I went back to Siquijor with the thought of visiting Kagusuan Beach as a must. I’ve read a lot about this paradise and I thought that this should be my first stop when I visit Siquijor again. The pictures that I’ve seen through other blogs encouraged me and lifted my spirits up in visiting this wonderful place.
I don’t have any idea on to what town is this hidden paradise located but with the help of an old Siquijor map, which is by the way torn apart, given by the owner of the motorbike that we rented, we were able to find it. Kagusuan beach is quite a long drive from where we stayed. It is located in the town of Maria, a few minutes drive once you pass Lazi Memorial Hospital, take a right turn on Barangay Saging. We were not sure then about the distance of the beach from the main road so, we asked the locals for directions.
The place got a security guard who is chatty and welcomes visitors with a smile. We went down a flight of stairs with the sound of the waves calling me and pulling me to rush down. I was not wrong at all. The place is a hidden treasure. It must have been a former beach resort. There are abandoned and ruined cottages that must have served as a shelter to its visitors. The long stretch of white sand and the horizon where the sea meets the sky is one picture perfect paradise.
We were not alone when we arrived. There are other tourists who are enjoying the beach and enjoying the mild heat of the sun since it is a bit cloudy. Of course, we are also ecstatic to take a dip, especially Nick, because he bought a new snorkeling mask just for the trip, hehe. Just be mindful of your things since the guard doesn’t roam around to check.
There are waves that must have been perfect for surfing, if only I know how to, because of the wind. We didn’t mind at all. The beach was heaven and the waves can’t stop me and Nick in enjoying the waters and swim, as if I really know how to swim, haha. There are large rock formations that are perfect for photo shoots. I, of course, took mine. haha.
Next time you visit Siquijor, get lost at the right place, get lost at the Kagusuan beach and for sure, you will leave your heart there.
I never want to leave that paradise. If only I could pack that one inside my bag and bring it home. I’ll be back, for sure.
