San Vicente Marine Sanctuary in Olango Island

    Summer will never be over!

That’s what I always thought for I haven’t really enjoyed my summer this year. I was not able to spend a lot of beach days. Yup, sad life.

Anyway, I decided to go with my nephews and brother in law at Olango Island, in time for their fiesta celebration. Aside from the plates of seafood that I get to eat by visiting there, I’ve always wanted to visit and explore the island.

I decided to go to the famous “boardwalk” and of course, my nephews and their cousin tagged along.

San Vicente Boardwalk Marine Sanctuary is located in Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Rosa, Lapu-Lapu City. They offer a lot of activities for their visitors from sightseeing to swimming and snorkeling and witness the rich marine life the island has to offer.

    Activity Options and Rates

    Sightseeing – Php 25/head

Swimming and Snorkeling – Php 75/head

Snorkeling Mask Rental – Php 100

    Fish Feeding – Php 100/head

    Diving Fee – Php 100/head

    Overnight Camping – Php 150/head

Environmental Fee (including the use of tables and chairs) – Php 200 for every 10 persons

After paying your desired activity, you will have a short orientation on how the place works and for you to know their do’s and dont’s to help preserve the sanctuary.

The wooden bridge is about 425 meters long so I suggest that you bring water and snacks. There’s a store in the entrance where you can buy the things that you need.

We took a lot of pictures as we trail along the wooden bridge. We even saw a school of fishes on our way to their viewing area. It was a great visit.

The sun was high up and the salty wind that brushes along my cheeks satisfied my thirst for the beach.

As what I always remind my readers, always be a responsible tourist.

    How to get there?

  • You need to ride a pump boat to Olango Island from Mactan Island. Your starting point will be at Angasil Port in Mactan.
  • If you are from Ayala Center or SM City, you can ride a vhire to Gaisano Island Mall.
  • From there, you need to take a jeepney or a multicab with a Soong route.
  • You need to get off at Mactan Newtown. Ride a tricycle to Angasil Port.
  • Ride a tricycle to San Vicente Marine Sanctuary.
