Siquijor Island is a paradise away from home. Called by the Spaniards as Isla del Fuego or Island on Fire, this mysterious island is a perfect getaway if you want to take a break from the busy streets of the city. Siquijor is a small island of 6 towns. The island is a favorite vacation spot for foreigners and beach lovers because of its fine white beaches.
I left my heart at Siquijor. Yes, despite the mysterious rumors about black magic, I fell in love with the island. I fell in love with its people, the white sand beaches, and most especially the places that I get to visit.
How to get there?
There are many ways to get to Siquijor but as for me, I prefer taking the bus to Dumaguete from Cebu South Terminal. I just love the bus ride despite the 4-5 hours of traveling compared to taking a plane to Dumaguete. From Dumaguete City, there are RORO vessels that can transport you to the island. You can also take the other option which is going there via Lite Ferries. Their sailing schedule is 1 PM every day that will dock at Larena Port in Suiquijor. The fare rates would be Php350 for economy and Php440 for tourist accommodation. The travel time would be much longer compared to taking the bus.
