Cebu is now on top when it comes to tourism. We have been receiving a lot of tourists, may it be summer time or not. But, did you know that aside from the mainland Cebu, there are little islets surrounding the island? Yes, you read it right and one of these is the island of Camotes.
How to go to Camotes Island?
Either you are traveling by land, by sea, or by air, you should be prepared to take some time. Your starting point should be the mainland of Cebu. You can go to Camotes island from Cebu City via bus or jeepney and your drop off is the Danao Port. The fare should not be more than Php 30.00. The travel time would be approximately 1 hour to 2 hours depending on the traffic.
In Danao Port, there are ferries available that will transport you to the island of Camotes. You can choose to leave your vehicles in the port for about Php 300.00 per day or if you want to bring your vehicle in the island, you can take it on the ferry for approximately Php 1,200.00 for cars and Php 2,000.00 for vans per way.
If you are concerned with your budget, the best option for you is by public transport. Boat tickets are approximately Php 180.00 for non-aircon and Php 200.00 for aircon per person.
Camotes island is a silent and laid back island so do not forget to bring cash as there are no ATMs available in the area. Most of the transportation is via habal-habal which cost Php 50.00 up depending on the distance. You can also commission your driver for about Php 500.00, depending on your haggling skills, to be your service for one day.
