Summer is here!
So, I was kinda hesitant to make this post, but I can’t just let the idea and experience sit in the corners of my brain. My Manila friends visited Cebu for a short vacation. One of them suggested beach hopping.
Yes, you read it right. Not the famous island hopping but beach hopping. The idea was to visit, literally, the famous beach resort hotels in Mactan Island. The original plan was to visit and to buy drinks at the resort. Though we were not able to visit all the resorts because the sun was scorching hot, we were able to enjoy anyways.
Our itinerary and tips to enjoy this little adventure.
First off on our list was JPark Island. Since we brought our own vehicle, thanks to the beau, getting there was not really a problem. As I mentioned, the original plan was to order from their resto but their famous Havana by the Sea was yet to open at 6 PM. We just stroll around, took pictures, and asked for a tariff for their rates.
As expected, the rates are rocket high ranging from P14,000 to P107,200 and that is for local residents only. But the place and their accommodation were actually worth it.
Next, we went to Bluewater Maribago. The resort was kinda old and small. And we were told that we can check the premises within 15 minutes only. We did not stay long. Just took some pictures and left.
The third on our itinerary was Crimson Resort and Spa. The place was not that big and it was so quiet. Crimson was a good spot if you want relaxation and peace. We strolled around with the help of MJoy, who explained how the resort works. MJoy saved us from ordering drinks since she offered welcome drinks, a cold bottled water, that we enjoyed since we were all thirsty from the heat.
Our next stop was Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa. Eiba, asked for a tariff for us to check the hotel rates but they have none since their rates are constantly changing. Again, we strolled around and took pictures.
Please keep in mind to not stay on the shore since only house guests are only allowed to go there. We were enjoying the fishes in the shore when one of the staffs called our attention and told us that we were not allowed to go there.
Our final destination was Movenpick Hotel. Here, we spent the rest of the afternoon. Lady luck was on our side at Movenpick. It was 3 PM just in time for their chocolate hour and mind you, their chocolate was superb. We strolled around, took pictures and finally, we were able to stick to the “ordering plan” haha.
We ordered pizza and Inah tried their rum ice cream which is also a must try. Eiba happened to know their F&B Manager, whom I specifically want to thank for the white wine. Mr. Jeryl Chiu, thank you sa pa wine!
We waited for the Ibiza to open at 4 PM to take pictures.
Here are a few tips that I want to share if you want to try this DIY beach hopping.
- Use sunblock to avoid burning your skin from the heat.
- Plan ahead (transportation and itinerary) so you can enjoy this with ease.
- Prepare money if you plan on ordering cause resort food rates are expensive.
- Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the moment. (I forgot to bring mine and left it lying in my bed at home)
That sums up our beach hopping adventure for that day. I personally enjoyed it as one who loves the beach and sure will suggest this again to my friends who plan to visit Cebu.
